卖家通过社交媒体微信把制作完成的视频传回给买家。因受限于微信平台视频播放长度的限制，这些视频大多在十秒左右。

商家称，拍摄视频的所得，大部分分配在小孩身上。也有商家称“非洲小孩举牌是公益项目”。

中国的北京青年报此前报道称，负责推广视频的代理商承认："做一条视频，花在孩子身上的钱是很少的，大部分钱还是被拍摄者和商家拿走了。"
